As soon as anyone thinks, "he had no right to assume" in this context, it's likely that the individual assuming did perceive correctly. Reading this excerpt certainly made me intrigued to read more of this story. I liked the use of created vocabulary, and I enjoyed the interplay between the two characters. Obviously, since I led off with a comment about his assumption, I'm interested in why he assumed so, and if she really is or has been mistreated. Enquiring minds always want to know why, and that is certainly my life quest. Why? In this case, I want to know the "Who" of these two individuals and the "Where" of your created world, as well.
