Greetings, Shirley Petrandis!
For your first piece on here, I thought this was pretty good. I'm no expert on poetry, but it did feel just a bit bumpy in a couple of spots, but that's irrelevant as it's the subject matter that makes this poem shine.
The Civil (sic) War was anything but civil, and brothers killing brothers over slavery was insane, at least in my opinion. Your General was so right as he asked that question over that dying soldier, and the reader can feel the emotion you brought to this.
Good job, my friend! The spelling and grammar were flawless, and you've said a lot with so few words!
Writing since age 5, eh? Cool! *Cool* And good luck with that novel!
Kee ponw ritin gon, Shirley, and welcome to WdC! If you like to write (and you already said you do!), then you're going to love it here!
PS-You might want to get your biography set up so we can know a little something more about you (hobbies, favorite authors/books, location, etc.), but that's up to you, of course.
