A Moment In Life [E] I love mindfulness. It can turn even the mundane into something beautiful. ~ ruwth |
Hello ruwth! It's very nice to read some of your writing. I came across this piece of yours when we were chatting in scroll. I read that you are more of an essay writer which can be harder to get reviews for because it can be more personal and is based in non-fiction. Fortunately, I am a dabbler in pretty much every genre (novel, essay, poetry, short story, etc) and I wanted to review this for you. Below is my review of your item beginning with Corrections: Corrections/Suggestions First, it strikes the surface of the sink and then another sound as it plunges into the pool that is collecting below. - Just a little suggestion of removing "that is" since I don't think it is needed. But, of course, suggestions are just that and are totally up to you. I create another sound with the running water by putting my hand under the stream and causing the water to spray across the sudsy surface. Okay, I'm going to play a little with the wording of this and break it up a bit. Here is my reformulated suggestion: Another sound is created with the running water by putting my hand under the stream. This causes the water to spray across the sudsy surface. The warmth of the water detected by my sense of touch instantly brings a feeling of relaxation. The warm heat of the water running over my hand is just a the beginning of this sensation.- Another little reformatting of the sentence. My thoughts on this is that the repetition of the same word "warm/warmth" can be replaced in the second sentence with a different word that still has the same meaning. Things Which I Enjoyed Each tiny bubble contains a rainbow. Mounds of them together appear as snow-covered mountains.- Very pretty imagery right there and I can imagine the bubbles turning into tiny little rainbow colored mountains. Maybe a stray bubble rises up and you can see the beauty of the rainbow colors before it pops the next instant. I also like how you say that you are turned into a child at play. I swear I always feel like that with bubbles and I'll make myself a bubble beard in the bath, ha. Attending to sound, touch, and sight births a transformation.- Again, very pretty imagery. This is some great descriptions you got going on here. Overall Comments Overall, I enjoyed this essay and I'm glad that you shared it on scroll so I could come across some of your writing. How I originally got into writing was actually non-fiction/essay/journaling formats so I have a special place for this genre. I feel like with reading this piece that the dish washing is like a meditative experience. You become transfixed by the sensation of the sudsy water, the warmth of it, the feel of the dishes. The way the bubbles rise from the sink and create mountains. I hope that this review of mine is helpful for you. Thank you for sharing and keep on writing! =D ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** My review has been submitted for consideration in "Good Deeds Get CASH!" .
