Loneliness [E] A despairing battle with loneliness |
The title of this piece and the description are what got me here. And the opening lines are the reason I stayed; they're very strong and managed to get me hooked straightaway. When you said it was a "battle" you weren't kidding. I really like the way you portrayed this battle. I have to admit that I never pictured loneliness as a beast that attacks with claws, it always felt like a more passive snake-like foe who would sneak up from behind and attempt to suffocate his victim. But the way you described it here really fits it. Especially when it crawled inside: "For the beast, now deep inside of me, Continues its endless assault." That is just a perfect description. And the whole poem has this feeling of being trapped. Although the narrator does fight and does attempt to escape from the beast, he/she still feels helpless in the face of this monster. And I feel like this is exactly the way it should be, because this might just be the only beast that a person can't escape alone. There has to be at least one more person for one to prevail. This is very well written and quite thought provoking. Many thanks for a great read! ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** My review has been submitted for consideration in "Good Deeds Get CASH!" .
