Hello, there Newbie! Welcome to WDC. This is a Simply Positive Review. I couldn't help but chuckle a bit at the end of this story. I do enjoy some suspense, thrills and chills of a horror genre, item; but I also enjoy a splash of humor within it, too. I could so picture that character's face when she opened the door! Each of life's moments, drama, romance mysteries, have a real human force of nature, which bring characters to life on paper for authors. There are moments during the least expected time that humor is drawn. It may even be at an inappropriate moment such as an escaped giggle while paying respects at a wake. It's just part of the multidimensional human being, being human. Observation: I would suggest a little development and rearranging of order of events to fill-in a bit and add to the impact. Perhaps before the knock on the door, the protagonist could be watching the news. Show her concern for her safety as she gazed at a picture of one suspected "thing-like creature" caught on film on TV, and is warned about such a creature or many on the loose, and to be very careful about strangers in the neighborhood disguised as salespersons going door to door. Thus, she is prime -- set-up for the spine tingling knock on the door. Eek! Now you've got the reader paying attention on the edge of her seat. With the knock at the door making her jump, her heart race and the intense desire to protect herself, she would approach the door with a weapon already in hand. (Do you see what I mean? You had the story, you just needed the order of events a little rearranged.) Otherwise, well done! Until next time--write on! Regards, WebWitch My review has been submitted for consideration in "Good Deeds Get CASH!" .
