What I saw here was a very cute and funny story of a cat giving attitude because the owner skipped out. I know about this all too well. My dog does this to me often. We are made to feel like an explanation is needed. Do they own us? *Laugh* They are quite the characters and what would we do without them.

You certainly go out of your way in this piece trying to make peace with your cat and in the end she won you over for a few treats. Nice job on her end.

I understand this is supposed to be humorous and I did get a giggle. However I found the state of events to the story teller's reasons for being gone was quite tragic. Maybe over the top? I would revise it a little and keep the humor without a dragged out explanation. Shorten that a little and maybe focus on the cat's attitude with some dialogue.
This is only a suggestion, this is your story. I am only a reader.
