I will go to read more about the hill that with its tree, becomes the place for political war. In all countries where France and England colonization decades, the native people have had to fight for centuries to have even a small part of their beloved land as their own. The Sioux Indians of America are still fighting politically. This wonderful poem tells of one such place of war and a tree that symbolized the war. The poet has written with a wind of sadness that sacrifice had to be made in hopes of a people keeping their land. Amazing somberness to the mood of the poem. A lonesomeness to the life the tree represents; the longing of a heart or hearts is felt as the reader reads and hears the words. Great writing; no errors just beauty. Thank you. ann
