very well written. I saw no errors of punctuation or sentences. wonderful story told in the fashion of "the old ways" in a setting like the old towns in the early history of newly settled 'by whites' tiny town where old and young had no hope for a good 'tomorrow'. Based in and written by a person from New Zealand, the reader learns some of the history of that wonderful, beautifully place.. It reads like a time and place of my childhood in rural Oklahoma, America. as a reminder that we two countries share our colonization history....with England I think?? The writer has carefully written the slang and accent of the story teller in this wonderful story. It is a story of people who say they have hope but show they have no hope left in their dismal life. I enjoyed the description of the forest, the sounds of the tuis and other forest birds, etc. I have already Goggled birds in NZ and find they're incomparably beautiful and unique. Keep writing. ANN
