Hi Elle - on hiatus Author Icon. I found this poem in the "The Kiwi Review Challenge! - closedOpen in new Window.. Before I begin my review, please note that these are my views as a reader and are not meant to offend in any manner.
This is the first time I heard or read about the bird called Kereru. The poem told me enough to visualize the purple-green-white bird. The only thing which was not told in the poem was the whoosh of its wing which felt like an important part of its landing as per Wikipedia and your note. Since the poem talks about it resting and landing that should come into the poem. But, as I said, I haven't seen the bird. My viewpoint is just based on the poem and information provided on the net.

Technically, I did not find any issues in the septet form used for the poem. What I enjoyed the most was the colorplay which you have utilized to match with the appearance of Kereru.

Overall, an interesting poem. Thanks for sharing it.
