The bell rang, and Carla carefully walked to her locker to collect the rest of her books. She managed to catch the bus and sat all the way in the back, trying to keep to herself. When the bus arrived at her stop, Carla got her bookbag and exited the bus, walking to the front of her house. She was careful to walk up the first couple of steps, leading into the house. With a jiggle of the key, Carla opened the door and headed upstairs to her room. Her mother was getting her sister from school and her father was still at work, so Carla had the place to herself.
Once in her room, Carla took Phil out of her shoe and placed him on her computer desk.
"Are you okay?" she asked Phil.
"Yeah, I am fine," Phil responded. "Thanks for getting me out of there, I was worried that one of those girls was going to be my death."
"Anything for you, Phil," Carla said batting an eyelash at him.
"Okay, well I would like to go home now, please so is there any way that you could possibly take me home?" Phil asked.
"Wait, before I do, I have to tell you that I really like you, Phil," Carla admitted.
"That's really sweet, Carla," Phil told her.
"Well?" she asked.
"Well, what?" Phil replied.
"Well, you know, do you like me, too?" she asked.
Phil thought about it for a few minutes and finally had an answer for Carla.
