I looked up and saw Katie, this beautiful redheaded freshman, looking down at me. Now, I don't know about you, but I always supposed that if I ever found myself looking up at the face of a girl I knew, but the face was now that of a giantess, I wouldn't react in a calm manner. But that's exactly how I felt. I rolled to one side and found that that the soft, sweet-smelling surface was Katie's hand, which I was draped over. I assumed the smell was the peach scented hand lotion that Katie used from time to time. I turned on my back and smiled lazily at Katie.
"So, Katie, when did you become a giant?" It was still amazing that I was just so blase about the whole thing.
Katie (Actually, it's Kathleen O'Brien, and she's originally from Shannon, Ireland, though she moved her when she was eight, and still has a hint of an Irish brogue) laughed gently.
"It's not me who grew, Chris, it's you who shrunk, and down to four inches at that."
I shrugged nonchalantly, as if I shrunk down to four inches every day of the week.
"How did you do that?"
"Well, my grandmother sent me a spell. I thought it was pretty wild, at first, but my grandmother...well, let's say she can be very uncanny at times. So, since you're one of the cuter boys I know, I thought I'd experiment on you. And what do you know, if it didn't work. There's also a calming effect that the spell makes, but that wears off in a little while, after you've had a chance to adjust."
I nodded, finding my shrinking intellectually interesting.
"How long does the shrinking part of the spell last?"
"Until I use the counterspell."
"So what are your plans?"
"I thought..."
