Welcome to Paragon City. Home of more superheroes and superheroines than you can shake a cape at. In recent years, it had been a city of peril, of ruins and wreckage.
But more and more heroes poured into the city, driving out the criminals, monsters, and madmen that had infested it, allowing the city to clean things up.
Now Paragon was a shining beacon to the world, a perfect example of what a city should be. The villains were still around, but they were all driven underground, forced to work in secret. Battles still raged daily, but the people felt safe to walk the streets again.
This frustrated Paragon's criminal element to no end. Add into that the occasional losers with unusual, near-uselss powers or technology that tried to get into their organizations, and you could understand their frustration.
But one 'loser,' in a hidden laboratory deep underneath the city, wouldn't tolerate being treated as such.
"Those fools..." grumbled the skinny, emaciated man in the labcoat as he tinkered with the shimmering, golden box that floated in midair.
"They don't understand my greatness. This device will effectively eliminate half the hero population! All I need to do is hit one woman with this, and she'll become so ravenously hungry that all she'll be interested in is eating eating and eating! She'll also get fat three times as quick, becoming an immobile blob in days! And best of all, this effect spreads to other women at the slightest touch! All the superheroines in Paragon will be fat masses, and there won't be a thing the heroes can do about it! AHAHAHAHA!"
He worked for a few minutes longer, until his machine was done. There was one small problem, though: He forgot the one danger of working underground in Paragon City.
The LOST might find you there.
As the monsters burst in, the mad scientist did the last thing he'd ever do as a living being: he activated his machine. Light burst from it, seeking out the first female bio-signature it could find...
