As you bend to get into the car, there's a ripping noise from the seat of the cutoffs. Surprised, you try to get up again to hide the new hole, but you lose your balance and fall into passenger’s seat awkwardly, your arm hitting Ted in the shoulder. The MR2 sinks under the suddenly heavy load, bottoming its suspension then rising only slowly on your side.
“Wow, Pete, you ok?” Ted asks.
“I’m ok,” you reply, trying to get your legs in and straighten yourself in the seat. You push on Ted’s shoulder and pull on your gut with one hand as you right yourself. You notice that the MR2 now has a list towards the passenger side. “My cut-offs didn’t do so well though. I probably should go back in for something else.”
“Nah, let’s get going.”
“But I don’t want to walk through the mall with a hole at my butt!”
“That’s ok, I know the manager, I’ll pull round and we’ll use the back door. Here, I’ll call on the cell phone to say we’re coming.” He puts a hand on the lid of the central console, but the lid runs into your fat thigh and doesn’t open far. Ted shoves the lid open as you try to rock your leg a little out of the way. “I really like this car, but it’s a little small.” Ted says. “I’m thinking of getting something bigger.”
“No, don’t, this is a cool car!” you say, slightly embarrassed at how you don’t fit.
“No, I want a car that will take more than one person,” Ted goes on. In moments he has the MR2 in motion, rocketing around corners as if on rails.
