He heard a shrill buzz, his only warning before the large insect dived toward his head.
As the fly, which was his equal in size, hovered in front of him, the tiny man got a close look at the alien creature. It looked particularly hideous with its drooping feeding tube dangling from a head crowned with faceted eyes.
Its primary wings, beating 200 to 300 times a second, let the winged bug zip around the tiny man, making a shrill noise the entire time.
He tried to slap at the attacked, but now that he was on a roughly equal footing with the insect, "shooing" away a fly was no longer an option open to him.
Suddenly, the insect used two spiky limbs to grasp at the tiny man's shirt. With a furious buzzing, the fly managed to lift him off the table.
The tiny shrunken scientist screamed as he found himself airborne and carried in an erratic path around his own enormous kitchen.
