Red XIII uses materia to defeat the girls

Yuffie should have known better that tickle-torture was ineffective against a guy as strong as Red XIII. A silent incantation of fire left the girl howling as burnt fingers allowed for his easy escape. Red landed cleanly on his feet, already getting the next spell under way - not "Mini", as would seem wise, but rather an enhanced version of "Esuna".

In moments, the girls began to shrink, but not before a forced regurgitation of his fellow party members ensured both their safety and the girls. By the time they were back to normal size, the guys were getting to their feet, more dazed by the stink than any minute pain they endured. Red shook his head in disbelief as he watched the scene unfold, relief coursing through his veins as he allowed himself to lay down and sigh in contentment.

Well-educated on the vast bestiary of the Planet, Red knew the effects of the monster's spores had addled their minds in potent ways, and it was none of their intention to eat any of them. He could only hope they would not come across more of the rare creatures thought only to exist in legend. For now, there was some explaining to do, but he was confident the party would forgive and move on. Corel was not far from here, and they would get their much needed food. They were much stronger than this and had endured much greater trials. A hungry belly was the least of all their concerns.

"Besides," thought Red, "they were lucky it was not me. I would have scooped them all up in one sitting with my giant tongue. I'm sure humans taste nice, but if any human must be scoffed down, let's eat up Shinra once and for all!"
