As unsettling as the house looks it is a shelter, and you're getting soaked.
You head for the nearest "abandoned" house choosing convenience over quality...not that any of the other houses look much better. The porch is sagging and the wood looks warped and rotten in spots.
As you walk up to the door you see that the boards holding it in place have been warped and broken for a long time. The doorknob is rusted but with a little effort you manage to open it. A rush of stale and somewhat fishy air rushes out when you open the door. You cough a bit and decide to breathe shallow breaths to avoid the smell as much as you can. There were marks in the dust as if something had dragged or shuffled all over the living room, but he furniture was untouched. The dust on the furniture was so thick you could no longer tell what color the couch in the corner was.
The farther you walk into the livingroom the stronger the fish smell gets.
You decide that since you're not going anywhere you might as well write for a while. You open your laptop case(thankfully it's waterproof) and look for an outlet.
you see none.
there could be one further in the house. You have a battery but you don't know how long it will last.
