Chapter #5

Immortal Enemy

    by: wintersdawn Author IconMail Icon
Mike took a deep breath and stepped out of the shadows and towards Trevor.

As he neared, Trevor whipped around to face him. Mike had no clue how he could had heard him through the storm, but he must have sensed him because he was there, no longer watching the cabin but glaring at Mike threateningly.

"Mike, what are you doing here?"

Mike narrowed his eyes. "We'll this IS my sister's cabin." he growled

Trevor sized him up. Mike's spine prickled but he forced himself to stand his ground. He could sense the tension in the air. A fight would be coming soon, and he would be the one to start it. No one was going to hurt her sister, even if she does deserve it.

"What the hell do you want?" Mike continued, his voice loud and firm. Suddenly, thunder clapped above their heads, so loud that it sounded like the heavens were being torn in two. He flinched, and Trevor smiled.

"Scared of a little thunder, eh Mike?" he laughed. "But, then again, you were always a wimp."

Anger whelmed inside Mike, more so than before. "Shut the hell up and leave my sister alone!" he yelled, his hands balling into fists. His voice sounded pretty vicious, and that satisfied him. Who's scared now?

Trevor sneered. "Hey, I can do whatever I want to with Vanessa. Actually, she seems to like it that way. I think she has a motto, 'Give the boys what they like'? Is that it? 'Cause she sure lived up to it -- "

Mike shot forward and grabbed him by the scruff of his shirt and pushed him up against a tree, his face furious.

"You stay away from my sister or else -- "

Trevor's laugh interrupted him. "Or else what? You're going to call my parents?" Even though he was being gripped by Mike and was in threat of being hit, he could still find something smart to say. "Why don't you just punch me already? Be a man and do something for once. Come on, punch -- "

Before Trevor could finish Mike raised his fist and drew back. This was it. He was going to hurt Trevor, and oh, would it feel great. All his strength and anger was built into this one punch and as he was about to swing it at his face, something shot into him and knocked him down.

Pain seared his shoulder as he landed on a gnarled root. His teeth gritted and his hand instantly gripped his shoulder. Furious, he looked up, ready to face his attacker...

But no one was there. No one except Trevor, who was leaning against the tree, dazed and staring in front of him in shock.

Mike was confused. If he hadn't pushed him, then who...? He turned his head and followed Trevor's gaze, and his eyes widened

A man stood there, a few yards away, half obscured by the trees. He was tall with long hair and dark, calculating eyes. His face was unnaturally pale and purple bags could be seen below his eyes. Mike had never seen him before, and from the looks of it, neither had Trevor.

The man smiled. It sent shivers down his spine. "Gentlemen, Gentlemen," he said, his arms raising welcomingly. His voice was calm and smooth, confidence ringing in every word. "Don't fight over dear Vanessa! There's plenty of her to go around -- "

Trevor, being the idiot he was, stormed up to him. The man just watched him as he neared. "Who the hell are you?" Trevor demanded. He was face to face with him now, his chest puffed out and his fists clenched. "Oh, wait! Let me guess! You're another one of 'dear Vanessa's' toys?"

The man just smiled, obviously amused. "You make it sound so dirty. No no, not a toy, my dear friend -- " Trevor scoffed at the word friend, " -- but a... blood mate."

Blood mate? What was this guy talking about? Trevor seemed to be infuriated by these words, even though Mike was certain he didn't know what he meant anymore than him.

"You stay away from her, you hear? And tell those other scum bags too, back from where ever the hell you came from!"

The man looked down at him, his smile still on his face. "Oh, I'm not going anywhere," he said, his voice becoming deadly. "And neither, I'm afraid, are you."

The man suddenly grabbed Trevor's shoulders before he could react and, to Mike's utter horror, leaned down and bit his neck.

And that's when the screaming started.

You have the following choices:

1. Get the heck out of there!

2. Build up the courage and try to save Trevor
