Chapter #7

Anne leaves, Trevor has a strange encounter

    by: Unknown
"You should go," Trevor yelled into the car as he began to move away from the car's warmth, and the beautiful red head's warmth. "Much more rain falls and you'll be stuck out here." Trevor looked warily towards the sky as thousands of droplets fell to Earth. He had to get to the lodge before it was too late.

"Thanks again for your help," Anne said with a sense of insecurity. "I'm sorry if I..."

Trevor interrupted by raising a hand. "Don't worry about it. Be safe, Anne." He turned towards the hill and prepared himself for the inevitably miserable climb to the top.

"Wait," Anne shouted, with a sudden sense of urgency to her voice. Did she really want to be out here by herself? Trevor turned towards her, he was squinting slightly, a tenuous expression on his face. "Trevor, do you need a ride somewhere?"

"Look, Anne, I appreciate your kindness, but you have to get off of this road," Trevor stated calmly as he leaned into the window, staring into Anne's beautiful blue eyes. "And I have to stay here." He leaned closer to Anne and pressed his wet lips against her forehead. Anne reached up with her hand and gently caressed Paul's stubbled cheek. "Be safe," he whispered into her ear.

Trevor quickly turned away, ran off the road and into the darkness. Anne's eyes stared at the point where Trevor disappeared for several seconds before she shifted into drive and gently pressed the gas pedal. The car's engine moaned as it labored down the isolated, muddy road.

Trevor stood silent for a moment, feeling the cold raindrops fall on his head and shoulders. He watched as Anne's car ambled away. She would be lucky if she made it down this hill unscathed. He knew that when she left, but he had no time to help an attractive stranger. He had to get to the lodge. And it was going to be hell, in this rain and mud.

Trevor turned away from the road and looked at the hill that ascended into the darkness. He knew the lodge was up there. He should be able to see some lights from here. But everything above him was pitch black. That was weird.

He kept staring at the hill, sizing it up, as he strode towards its base. All he could hear was the constant pattering sound of the rain as it slapped the ground. Trevor was in the middle of a thought of what he would do when he finally got to the lodge, when he felt a heavy thud to his back and felt strong arms wrapping around his waist and throwing him to the ground. Trevor's face smeared through a patch of mud, some cold mud splattering onto his front teeth and under his bottom lip.

Trevor's assaulter grabbed his shoulder and whipped him around, slamming his back into the cold, wet ground. As if Trevor wasn't uncomfortable enough before, now he had mud creeping down the back of his underwear. The mysterious attacker straddled him, wrapping an exceedingly strong hand around Trevor's collar and pulling his torso upwards. Trevor let out a painful yell as a large fist crashed into his face, just under his right eye. The fist came down again, this time landing square on Trevor's bottom lip, sending hot blood down his chin. Then his attacker froze one arm cocked back into a threatening punch.

It was dark, unusually dark, but Trevor could make out a heavily stubbled chin, thin lips curled back, exposing slightly crooked teeth, and two eyes that bore the look of a trapped wild animal. He had no idea who his attacker was.

"Who are you," the man screamed, shaking Trevor as he spoke. His voice carried the unmistakable trademark of panic. "Who the hell are you? Tell me! Tell me now! The stranger kept violently shaking Trevor. This guy was out his mind. There was nothing Trevor could say to calm him down. Nothing he could say, could make this better. But he had to try something. He may not have time for a fight.

You have the following choices:

1. Trevor tries to talk sense into the stranger.

*Pen*
2. Trevor attacks the stranger.

*Pen* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
