Denise forgot that along with her schedule, she was given the name of a "big sister." Although she was the oldest in her family, having a "big sister" might be a pleasant change. She looked at the name:Cheryl Stevens. "Why does that name sound familiar?" she wondered. After racking her brain for a bit, she remembered that there was a Lisa Stevens in her English class. Could this girl be her real sister?
Also on the paper was an announcement for a "Big Sister, Little Sister" picnic scheduled for later that afternoon. The "Big Sisters" were to make lunches for their younger counterparts to make them feel welcome. The "Little Sisters" were the bring some type of small gift in return.
Denise was hoping that Cheryl would be a friend, as well as, an ally. She was willing to try new experiences, so meeting Cheryl and finding out about the ins and outs of school life would be a challenge she would welcome and relish.
How should she handle the first meeting?
