As Alan heard the keys jingling in the front door and the lock turning, he didn't hesitate to start running back out into the kitchen and toward the front hallway. He never thought for a moment that Ron would do anything other than help him. He was sure that Ron would think the ability to shrink cool, and would want to try it out himself too.
At his size, crossing the kitchen took a few mintues, even though he was sprinting, and by the time he got to the door into the hallway, Ron had already closed the front door behind himself and was on his way into the kitchen, throwing off his jacket and starting to kick off his shoes as he went. Alan froze in the middle of the doorway, unsure of what to do. Ron wasn't going to notice him standing there at that size, and the way it was looking, Alan would probably be hit by one of Ron's flying workboots or by Ron's giant foot itself.
The boots both flew clear of Alan, who was still frozen in the doorway, apparently unable to decide which way to run, and as Ron's sock-clad right foot starting swinging right for him, Alan leaped out of the way at the very last second, landing cenimeters away from Ron's huge foot as it crashed down onto the floor beside him.
Alan breathed a sigh of relief as Ron finally passed him, headed for the refridgerator. While Ron rooted around in the fridge for an after-work snack, Alan regrouped and considered a new plan of action. Unfortunately, before he could really formulate anything in his mind, Ron, now holding a soda in one of his hands, was walking right back toward him again, and once again, Alan narrowly missed being crushed underneath his older brother's massive feet.
As Alan gathered himself once again, he heard Ron sigh comfortably as he sank into the couch in the living room. The sigh was shortly followed by the sound of the TV being turned on and the pop of his soda being opened. Alan smiled to himself, glad for an opportunity to try to get Ron's attention while he was sitting still, and started running toward the living room.
A few minutes later, Alan found himself beside the couch in the living room, standing between Ron's huge feet, resting comfortably on either side of him. He wondered how he should do this...
