With a few whispered words, Draco's blonde hair - which I would later learn he was enormously proud of - hair turned brown.
"My hair!" he yelled, causing several people to peek their heads in. "Turn it back, Hufflepuff," his spits at me, eyes flashing.
"Why don't you, if I'm so dumb?" I retorted. "Who knows? Maybe I'll manage to make it turn... purple." I flick my wand carelessly. Draco cringed away, his hands shielding his precious hair from further harm. I couldn't resist laughing: I didn't really know how to change his hair any other color, or even how to turn it back to blonde.
"I swear, I'll jinx you into oblivion if you don't change it." Draco whips out his wand, pointing it right at my nose.
I stare at it, going slightly cross-eyed. "You want the truth, Malfoy?" I ask.
He stares at me, unmoving. I continue, "I don't know how to change your hair back."
Before I know it, I'm sent flying, crashing into a seat. I see only a flash of Draco's robes as her exits the compartment.
"Are you okay?" a pretty redhead asks, her brown eyes filled with compassion.
"Yeah," I sit up and rub the back of my head, which has a lump. "He just forced me back."
"What did you do?" she asks, curious.
"I turned his hair brown," I responded, somewhat absently, already beginning to regret my actions.
She bursts out laughing. "The famous Malfoy hair got turned brown?" She shakes her head disbelievingly. "Absolute genius," she continues, staring at me with something akin to admiration. "I'm Ginny Weasley," she introduces.
"Lauren Johnson," I offer.
"Nice to meet you, Lauren. C'mon, let's get you to the hospital wing, just in case." Ginny heaves me up and leads me through the crowds.
"Hey, Ginny? Why is everyone staring at me?" I ask, self-conscious.
Ginny smiles at me. "I guess you could say Malfoy is the bad boy of the school. And you, my dear, might have his especial interest."
