"That's funny" Will said. "I can't find any reference to this Council on the Web."
"So?" Watching Will type wasn't Bella's idea of the perfect afternoon. She had little enough time off from the gas station. She'd rather be running and jumping and climbing trees, to quote Eddie Izzard. Scout had long ago departed for the lakeshore. Bella thought about joining him.
"They show up when they pay Finn's account for a full scholarship" Will said with great emphasis, "and then they just disappear. Who are these guys?"
Bella shrugged. "I don't know. Life is weird, life sucks, get over it."
Will scowled. "I mean to pump Finn about this Council. I want to know about them. Any group who would fund such uncommercial studies so lavishly, with no strings attached, is worth checking out."
"Oh" Scout had just returned. "Is that why you're interested?"
Will rolled his eyes.
"Will. Haven't you learned? There are always strings attached."
"I don't care. I want to find this Council." Will sounded scathing. "You can't just give up so easily Bella."
"I don't see anything special about them. Do you want to study magic in college?" Bella hoped he'd have put that behind him by then. It was such a waste of a smart guy.
