Wild Ride!

"Tom, no, don't go," Eric shouted, sprinting toward his boyfriend's shoes.

His shouts unheard, with Tom still proceeding out of the lab, Eric made a desperate lunge toward a loose lace dangling several feet (Eric's perspective) from the edge of the enormous left shoe.

Holding on to the string, he might have imagined he could do something to stop Tom's momentum, but he soon learned it would have been easier to stop a speeding locomotive. As Tom lifted his shoe, the string snapped taut, launching the three-inch-tall scientist high into the air before a downward step launched the dangling lace into the opposite direction.

Instead of smashing into the floor, a twist of motion landed the shrunken man atop the very shoe from which the lace dangled. Stunned, he simply sprawled on the shoe and hoped he could manage to hang on a little longer.
