Eric's world grew even dimmer as the plastic walls closed high above his head, bunched together by the giant janitor's hands. He lurched forward as the entire bag was lifted, and once again, enormous pieces of refuse shifted and tumbled around him.
He landed on something soft and squishy, bigger than any king-sized mattress. He smelled wheat grain! The tiny scientist had landed on a discarded crust of bread from someone's lunch.
"No! This can't be happening!" Eric cried, scrambling to steady himself against the huge mass of bread crust.
Eric's world pitched again.
Jessie twisted the wire fastener around the top of the plastic garbage bag, and gave it a tug. In the next moment, he effortlessly tossed the load over the edge of the dumpster.
The bag fell into a dumpster almost filled to capacity, so the drop proved fortunately less of an impact. Still, in the dark, smelly confines of the enormous plastic bag, the tiny scientist felt himself tossed to and fro.
He landed on what felt like a cool, curving surface. The smooth surface felt very hard under his tiny body.
The tiny scientist rested atop a large container. Eric scrambled for a handhold even as the object shifted under him. He slid over the curved surface, noting a strong smell of fruit and yogurt.
