Don looked so fucking gigantic. Faced with this humbling comparison, Eric was obliged to reshape his place in this strange, new world of enormity.
He didn't belong. He was nothing. He was a no more than a tiny gnat in relation to the colossus.
Eric tried to clear his thoughts. Don hadn't changed. He was still Eric's assistant, and he had never been more in need of assistance.
Forgetting that Don looked more than 800 feet tall, Eric lowered himself over the edge of the platform and slid to the floor. He tumbled out of control and landed in an undignified sprawl on the lab floor.
He saw that Don had moved across the lab toward a desk. Eric sprinted into the open.
"I've got to get his attention!" Don's assistance would be invaluable in helping him regain his size, and Eric was determined to get back to normal.
But, as Eric watched him, Don settled into a chair behind the desk.
The young giant was wearing jeans and a t-shirt. A new hairstyle gave Don's blond hair a spiky look. He looked impressive as he moved.
Although in reality a slim guy, his body now looked much more powerful, much more handsome to the shrunken scientist.
Eric continued to run over the floor. He didn't stop until in the shadow of the massive desk. The simple piece of furniture looked like some huge geological formation.
Eric entered the zone of shadows beneath the desk. That's when he saw Don's huge feet. His assistant was wearing a pair of sandals and no socks.
Eric, devastated, realized that Don's toes loomed much larger than his puny body.
Still, the fact that his feet weren't contained within shoes might be an unexpected help. Eric moved closer. If he could touch one of the giant toes, maybe he could make Don feel him, notice him and rescue him.
God, at this close range, he noticed how ragged Don's toenails appeared. And there was a faint odor lingering.
Eric tried to ignore how much everything had changed. He stepped toward one of the massive feet.
