Chapter #4

The proposal

Your fear overrides your desires and you turn tail and run, back up the stairs and out of the house. You hear the crone shout behind you:
"STOP HER!"
You couldn't imagine who she could be talking to since you were the only other person on the property. Just then the branches of the two giant Oak trees that had been growing on either side of the front gate began growing at an alarming rate. However instead of growing out and up like tree branches normally do these branches grew out and down, essentially blocking you from escaping. 'Of course' you think, 'an old crone with magic pills and lives in a haunted house would of course have enchanted plants, Duh!' You turn to see the crone walking up the steps toward you.
"Now, now, my child," she says with a kinder tone "I can understand your apprehension, but truly, I bear no ill will toward you. You wish for both the red and blue pills, correct?"
"Yes" You answer.
"Very well, as I said before to get them you need only to come to my house for a couple of hours over the next 60 days and they are yours."
"What must I do while I am here?" You ask, tentatively.
"Nothing major or demeaning, I assure you," the crone replies "I merely have a few odd jobs around the house that I am too old and weak to take care of myself. Oh don't get me wrong I can still do many chores myself and use my magic for many other, but I occasionally have guests over and people walk by my house every day, so between them they see a fair amount of my house. To be honest I want my abilities to remain as secret as possible, being revealed only to those I choose, and as such there are chores that would look odd being done by themselves or too quickly, so I need someone to help me with those. Would that be so bad?"
You think for a minute, 'It does not sound so bad, if it's just normal household chores. Then again, some of those chores might be more than they appear to be. But she is a weak old lady. . . What should I do?'

You have the following choices:

1. Do the chores cheerily

*Noteb*
2. Decline her offer, apologize profusely, and be on your way

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
