Magic in the air

"Sorry," Kevin muttered. Turning back to Mr. Jacobson, he said, "That girl must have sent us here. She was freaky. Maybe she drugged us or something, to make us hallucinate."
Mr. Jacobson shook his head slowly, not looking at Kevin. "She didn't drug us. We are here."
"Wha-what do you mean?"
The manager forced himself to face Kevin. "That girl," he said, "is my sister. I haven't seen her in years, not since she started to study magic."
"Magic?" Kevin was confused.
"Yes, magic. One day she phoned me to say she was joining a group of witches. I told her it was a bunch of nonsense, and that she should get herself a real occupation."
"And what do you think about it now?" Mr. Jacobson and Kevin started. The girl walked up from behind them and looked at them both, with an expression on her face that neither could quite understand.
