Chapter #6

Saloon

    by: Unknown
Fallon would be here, she knew. As she stalked silently along the side of the saloon, she stole glances through the dust-covered windows. It was dimly lit; business done here was not meant to be seen.

Though she knew it was probably useless, she looked for Fallon. A few darkly clad men sat at the bar; more men clustered around tables. They spoke in a hushed, controlled manner. This was not a place for drunks. In fact, it was not a place for most men, even those without a soft spot for alcohol. "Men." The first jitters creeped into her body then and she cursed them under her breath. A woman in this place would be suspicious, but she had no other alternative. He had told her to meet him here.

The door seemed to brood before her. Her nerves dulled as she took a deep breath, and she pushed the door open. Though the door was heavy, she pushed it open with ease. A few men looked up at the noise, and she noticed their faces as she kept hers blank. With a sixth sense she'd developed through necessity, she noted that many other men had noticed her entry. Whispers stopped momentarily as more men glanced her way. She felt an especially intense gaze and let her eyes drift to a table near the window where a man indeed was looking intently at her, his dark eyes hidden under the long straight hair that hung over the sides of his face. His blonde hair was in striking contrast to his dark features, and as she noticed his strong nose and curved lips, she felt a weakness run through her that she had not expected.

Startled, she turned away and inspected the other side of the room. His eyes still bore into her; she could feel their intensity, which was not letting up. Could he feel her heart, beating quickly? She wondered if this was Fallon. It would be a dangerous gamble to make in this place, but she felt a connection to this man.

You have the following choices:

1. She takes her chances and sits down with the man

2. She plays it safe and waits by the bar
