Whoever he thought she was, he had underestimated his opponent's strength. This was not the first time Dauphin had faced extreme danger: she might look small and frail, but living through a war made even the young learn fast. Not giving herself time to think she brought her right arm up, still grasping the small dagger she always slept with under her pillow.
She did not want to kill this man, as she needed to learn more about just who he thought she was. Yet she needed to take control. She sliced across his arm, an easy target, and was releived when he grunted and let go of her head. The respite was not for long though, he had let go so that his focus could now be on her knife arm. The problem of non fatal wounds were that they left your opponent even more murderous towards you.
He lunged for her, using his sheer bulk to attempt to dominate. Dauphin was faster on her feet however and easily dodged the full force of the blow, instead taking a lesser hit. She was armed and he was not and she brought her knife arm around again, feinting at the last moment before wedging it into his shoulder. The wedge had been unintentional, but Dauphin knew it was easier to leave it there than fight over the knife.
"You... are not Delga," the man spat out.
"Taken you that long to figure it out?" Dauphin asked. "Who is she?"
The man was not in the mood for further conversation and lunged once more. His movements were slowed from blood loss however, leaving Dauphin with the much needed chance to swerve round him to her sword. His eyes were on the blade, his body unmoving as she backed out of the room and swiftly from the building. A further fight would have been foolhardy: better to escape while she had the chance.
