"Well let me draw my sword just in case," replied Dauphin, hand on the hilt as the men approached.
Showing no respect for her femininity one of the men lunged towards Dauphin whilst the other five concentrated on Makarin. Dauphin was obviously considered the far lesser threat!
Unfortunately the man was in for a suprise, as Dauphin withdrew her sword with a speed and agility that suggested long experience on the battlefield. Within seconds she had brought her blade against his with such force his sword clattered out of his hand onto the street. As he dived for the fallen sword Dauphin administered a quick kick to the side of his head. Hardly ladylike, but she had no desire to kill him so knocking the man unconscious was a far easier solution.
She then turned to Makarin, who was outnumbered but still coping quite admirably.
"Still not need any help?"
Grabbing the blade instead of the hilt, she drove the heavy handle of the sword into the back of one of the men's heads knocking him to the ground. In the momentary confusion she was able to lash out at another man, although not quite as effectively whilst Makarin was seeing off another two of the attackers, more permanently. Two just turned on their heels and fled the carnage.
"Come, it's not safe to stay out here any longer," Makarin urged her, taking her back into the tavern.
"A meal for myself and the lady - she's earned it," Makarin told the barman and led Dauphin towards a smaller room at the back.
"You didn't harm those men. Why?" he asked her.
"This is not my land. I know nothing of them, and if a traveller such as me caused their death who do you think the authorities would believe?" she asked.
