"Not now. But I will do soon enough," Dauphin replied curtly. It was not a no, but it displayed the right lack of enthusiasm.
"May I be as bold as to offer assistance?" the man said, offering a strong but well manicured hand to Dauphin. She could feel the iron behind his grip as she shook it. "There are far too many unscrupulous stable owners in this city. Besides which, mine is the only one, besides the royal stables, to comfortably accomodate faeleans. The others don't have the flying height you see."
Dauphin knew that wherever she went there would be problems with her faelans. Sometimes it was better the devil you know than the one you don't. "How much?" she asked.
The man's reply made her wince, but at least sounded legitimate. A faker would offer a lower price to entice her to danger. It was only for one night after all, and she could sleep in the stables to ensure her steeds' safety.
