I realized I’ve been talking so much about me and Hillary lately that I haven’t even mentioned my friends. Which is pretty rude, considering they’re basically my second family. So, diary, let me give you the full scoop on my squad. We’ve all grown a lot (literally and otherwise), and it’s kinda crazy seeing how different we all are this year.
First up is Ava. Ava’s been my best friend since second grade when she let me borrow her glitter pens. She’s got these super long dark curls that she always braids with little beads at the ends. Last year, she was the tallest of all of us at 5'2, but now I’ve totally caught up—and passed her by an inch. She’s not bitter about it (much). Ava’s got this chill, confident vibe. She’s one of those people who always seems to know exactly what to say. Oh, and she’s in a C cup now, like me, though she swears she’s about to hit a D soon because “they won’t stop growing.” She complains about it sometimes, but we both know she secretly loves the attention.
Then there’s Jasmine. Jasmine is the sporty one. She’s on, like, every team—soccer, basketball, volleyball—you name it. She’s super competitive and loves winning, but she’s not obnoxious about it. She’s 5'1 now, and she’s pretty lean from all that running around, but her curves have definitely shown up lately. She just moved up to a B cup over the summer, which she was really excited about. She joked that it finally balanced out her “no-hips” situation. She’s got this short, choppy haircut that totally fits her energy, and she’s always bouncing around like she’s got five Red Bulls in her system.
Next is Zoe. Zoe is the artsy one—she’s always sketching in her notebook or doodling on the edges of her homework. She’s a little quieter than the rest of us, but once you get her talking about stuff she loves (mostly fantasy books and anime), you can’t get her to stop. She’s about 5'3 now, which she’s super smug about because she’s been waiting to be taller than Ava forever. Zoe’s got a smaller frame, but she’s wearing an A cup right now. She’s cool with it. She says it makes wearing oversized hoodies even cozier, and she’s not wrong.
And then there’s Me, Mollie. Like I said before, I’m 5'4 now (and counting!). I’ve hit a solid C cup, which still feels surreal considering where I was just six months ago. Sometimes I catch myself glancing down like, Is this for real? Yep. It is. I’m taller than all of them now, which is wild. I used to be the smallest one in the group by far, and now I’m the one they ask to grab stuff off the top shelf.
We all sat together at lunch today, and it hit me how different we all look now. We’re not little kids anymore. We’re growing up, in more ways than one. It’s kind of exciting… and a little scary? But mostly exciting. We’re figuring it out together, which makes it easier.
Ava keeps saying we should all go shopping together soon for new clothes since we’re all outgrowing last year’s stuff. I’m so down for that. Plus, I kinda love the idea of walking into a store with all of us tall, confident, totally different girls owning it.
I can’t wait.
