A tavern catering to new experiences, bodyswaps and more, with a infinite adventure below. |
The year is the 225th year of the Empire. Nestled away in a forgotten corner of a very early industrial, proto-steampunk society is one place where the weird still rules. The Stormborne offers unlimited adventure and experiences in its cozy quarters with the ever shifting Labyrinth below… The Stormborne had earned a certain reputation in the area, even by adventurer tavern standards. For one it was dominated by colorful adventurers of all sorts from lowly novices to ancient elven mages. Pretty much anyone in the whole Empire weird enough to dodge out of the more “normal” watering holes was bound to wind up here, and Gods forbid you were just some normal type that got lost. Now there are a few reasons for that particular reputation. For one, it's not every tavern that establishes itself right on top of a labyrinth, especially not THE Labyrinth. The ever shifting magical maze was directly connected to the establishment forever promising new adventures and new dangers. Of course, that sometimes meant a monster would crawl up and get pounded by a horde of wasted adventurers (not that anyone seemed to mind) or a ghost would possess some random sap (who was usually too drunk to get far), but y’know, that’s meant to be fun. Now, another reason The Stormborne attracted all sorts of the conventionally challenge was its Empire-wide famous challenge nights. These could range from the mundane drunk dungeon crawl, to the random adventure party pairing, to the most famous of all - body swap night. But that begs the question; who are you? Option One - An Imperial-Royal In its second century of existence the Empire has just become a sort of fact of life, and there’s not much more to say about the Imperial family. You’ve been pampered and isolated in the sprawling Imperial Palace for all your life with the weight of a million ceremonial expectations keeping you from enjoying what little free time you have. Even real rulership is beyond your grasp as of what little of significance there is to do has long shrunk into the shadows behind higher nobles and bureaucrats. The Imperial family are descended from a once mighty clan of Valkyries, human-like people with angelic wings with a propensity for combat. Unfortunately, their unique appearance makes them stand out, unless, say, they could find a new body to spend the night in. Option Two - A Ghost! Okay, maybe even in a crowd of weirdos, you’re pretty weird. It wasn’t your fault that you died in the Labyrinth, it’s a dangerous place! Certainly no one would notice if you just slip in for the night, right? Ghosts are rare and not particularly liked entities that for one reason or another haven’t been able to pass on. Isolated from being able to experience the pleasures of life even the most polite of ghosts can’t resist the pull of borrowing someone for at least a time Option Three - Nature-Kin “Tree hugger”, “savage”, “cannibal”, are all names polite society has (perhaps fairly) labeled you as. You’ve spent your life living off the land… or savaging it, depending on your temperament all in a bid to live free from an ever more stratified world. Or something like that. But, maybe trying out “civilized” life for a time wouldn’t be so bad. Nature-Kin range from human, elves, to all sorts of strange and oft forgotten species/ Option Four - Choose your own! Are you a normal adventurer, and explorer from far off lands, or perhaps even a lost average joe? The world is open to explore. |
