Elio was exhausted. When he left Kanto with his mother, the sun was setting. They managed to get some sleep on the plane, but the sun was rising when they landed.
Getting to their new home, Elio went straight to bed.
Next thing he knew, Meowth was waking him up. He could really kill the pokémon in that moment.
Checking the time, he found that he'd been asleep for three hours. So he got dressed and followed Meowth to find his mother unpacking.
"Morning, Elio." she said with a smile. "You were out like a light, how're you feeling?"
He rubbed his eyes, "Tired. How do you have so much energy?"
"Guess I'm just too excited to see Alolan pokémon to feel tired." She then recalled something. "Oh! Elio, would you mind heading to Iki Town? I've been looking for over an hour but I can't find the Pokémon food."
Going over to the counter, she pulled out her wallet and handed over ₽2,000. "I'm not sure how much it'll be over here, so better safe than sorry, right?"
Elio made his way through Route 1 but was too tired to really look where he was going.
He woke up fairly quickly when this light brown quadraped pounced at him from the tall grass.
He fell backwards, scared out of his mind, when three Pokémon jumped to his defense. One looked like a blue Seal, the second looked like a black Meowth, and the third looked like a baby Hoothoot.
Outnumbered, the strange pokémon ran away.
It was then that Elio realised his hand had grabbed something. Looking at it, it was a Pokéflute.
"Need a hand, cousin?" Asked a stranger in an open lab coat and a hand extended
Elio gladly took the hand and got to his feet.
"Hey, your Elio, aren't ya? You OK?"
Elio nodded, still a bit shaken. "Yea, I'm fine now. Thank you, sir."
The guy laughed a hearty laugh. "Please, call me Kukui. And it's them you should be thanking." He pointed to the pokémon.
"I was just looking after them when they dashed off to save you." He then explained how people and pokémon lived in harmony in Alola, then introduced the three starters. "Go on, choose who you want as your partner."
