You thought what the voice was demanding you to do the rest of the class. You tried to ignore it but you couldn’t help but thinking about it instead of today’s topic. After some time, the bell rings.
“Show time,” the voice said as you got up from your desk and made your way to the door. On your way to the door, you noticed Becky was right in front of you.
“Hey Becky can I ask you something?” You said as you tapped her on the shoulder. She turned back to you and smiled.
“Yeah Mark what is it? You need last nights homework for English? I doubt my work is correct,” Becky stated. You bit your tongue a little as you realized you had to ask the question to Becky now.
“Nope just had a question for you. Would you want to be smarter?” You asked. The voice was satisfied as Becky looked at you a bit confused.
“I mean I guess. You want to tutor me or something?” She asked as suddenly you felt your mind tingle. In a matter of seconds, the sensation came and went as Becky looked at you confused. “I could tutor you if you needed. Just let me know what days work for you later. I need to get to class,” Becky said as she walked away.
“What the hell was that?” You said to the voice in your mind.
“Notice how she said she’ll tutor you?” The voice said.
“Yeah what’s the deal with that?” You asked.
“Well let’s just say Becky will be top of the class going forward while you struggle to stay in the class,” the voice said with a slight laugh.
“What the fuck do you mean?” You said slightly concerned.
“Calm down boy. I simply swapped your intelligence with Becky. Could be worse, you could have swapped with one of the dumb freshmen,” the voice said, proud of its work.
“This is insane. You can’t do this to me,” you said as the voice just laughed in your hypothetical face.
“Oh I can do way worse. Just be happy I’m being nice right now. I think I’ll let you enjoy your new intelligence for now. I’ll be back Mark,” the voice said as it went silent in your head. You walked to your next class trying to think about this entire situation. You were scared of the curse and knew you had to keep the voice happy but didn’t want to lose parts of yourself.
