You swung by Jess’ office on the way to yours to say a morning hello. You are us idly in a fierce competition with her but today you thought you might change that. Maybe it was time to be nice for once, open your heart and allow this woman you so dearly hated to be your friend.
She was wearing a white dress with black stripe down the inner left side. It ended just above her knees and as your eyes followed down her pale white legs they found her feet covered in black heels. She was already the equivalent height of you but now she was just that edge taller, just enough to make a difference.
“Hi Jess” you greeted in a friendly tone.
“Erm Tom. What can I do for you? I’m very busy you see” she replied.
You felt offended. You were trying to be nice for once and this woman was being a bitch to you like always. You controlled your anger and once again fought hard for that friendship.
“Jess just because I’m your manager doesn’t mean we can’t be friends. I know we had a bit of a rivalry in the past but let’s put that behind us now. Let’s start fresh.”
She giggled. Laughed hysterically for a good few seconds before coming round her side of the desk and standing over you. Taller and looking down, she muttered the hurtful words…
“Why on earth, do you think I want to be friends with you?”
That hurt. You blushed and felt a bit speechless.
She continued, still towering over you…
“I know you’re my manager but that doesn’t make you any better than me. And it certainly doesn’t give you the right to barge in here whenever you please and try make friends with me. Not after the shit you pulled with me and Amber to get you to that position. Now get out of my office.”
