Chapter #5Balance Strats by: Markus I decided to design my dungeon to be more picky with it's kills. It should be safe for Adventurers to go through while discouraging them to proceed. It also need special traps to kill people I pick.
First, let's see what we're working with. From the entrance to Me alone is 1km, a pretty good distance for those with less vigor, but not enough against seasoned adventurers.
According to the rules:
You must have a direct route from the entrance of your dungeon all the way to your core. You can not block off the path at all. It must always be possible to reach your core, otherwise you go into Siege Mode which drains your DP by 10% per day and completely negates natural DP generation.
So as long as I have a direct route? What does that mean exactly, can I not add a door or some secret passage to it? Well it also says it needs to be possible to reach my core...
Okay, here's what I'm thinking. First let's test the siege mode. So if I build a wall at the only entrance here...
WARNING! BLOCKING THE ENTRANCE WILL ACTIVATE SIEGE MODE!
Okay. Seems to be working as intended. Let's say I want to build a rock door, it cost is also 1 DP, if I add it to the entrance it's not considered block because there's a possibility of an exit/entrance to Me.
Makes sense. But what if I try to camouflage it? Make it invincible or look like part of the wall as if it's a dead end. There should be a skill for that...
Dungeon Skill: Illusion (1000 DP)
Cast an illusion onto any surface, object, monsters, etc, of your choosing. Turning the target into anything within your dungeon database (Any Object or Monster with existing material). The illusion last forever. Can be dispeled by certain spells.
Okay, so I purchased this Illusion skill and use it on the door. Turning it into into the same rock wall as the rest of the outer layer. This way I look like I'm encased all around.
Great. But it's not gonna fool a bunch of veteran adventures long enough, I need a way to prevent them from casting those dispel spells the description mention (Heh, rolls of the tongue with them rhymes.)
Reducing their energy should do the trick. I've got about 1km of space play with. I was thinking of creating a maze that could shift itself randomly every day. Every path that leads to the exit is shifted with the entire dungeon, any mark is cleaned or made useless, and this way they can stay in the dungeon for as long as humanly possible, earning me DP. I remember entering a Game Jam and one feature I did is used a procedurally generated map for this infinite maze. The idea is to have a pre-made room with the walls and floor placed, marking the entrance and exit as this 'connector' so when I generate it it'll connect to another path.
Question is how do I make something like that here? There's probably a Skill for me to learn that...
Dungeon Skill: Shifter (15000 DP)
Once a Day, Shift the layout of your Dungeon. Either manually or randomly depending on your preference. You can customize how the Dungeon is shifted, how random it is, etc.
Wow, this one is expensive, though it being a Rare Skill makes sense. At this rate I'll burn through my DP before I can make my first monster. Which now that I think about it, what would my first monster be?
Should I go with the classic? Slimes, Goblins, Medieval Fantasy type? Should I based it on certain Anime? Should I come up with a theme? Theme... I want to confused and reduce their will to get to the Core, what can I combo with a randomly shifting dungeon everyday...

If I was an adventurer, I would mark where I am in the maze to find out it shifts and therefore find a way to get to the core with that knowledge. To prevent this, I should make a monster that could clean any marks, scratches, etc. on My Dungeon. Hence the Roomba Slimes.

The Roomba Slime, a Non-Combatant clear glass body monsters with the single purpose of cleaning the Dungeon. I made it tameable as well so, y'know, my dungeon has benefits to the Adventures even if little. But if they try to kill it, it's fast enough to dodge away. It's also cheap to mass produce.
Then I need another monster to destroy their senses. Something that could make them confused in the dungeon. Maybe something with sound? I remember a particular music linked to dementia. What if there was a creature that could sing to make people forget a few minutes?

The A1-Sirens, I'll spawn at least two to three inside the walls. I'll make it spacious enough, add some holes and curve its pipes to the main hallways so they could sing using the custom skills I've made.
Caretaker's Lullaby. Listening to the Lullaby cause adventurers to lose their memories depending on how long they've listen to the skill. Minimum 30 minutes means 30 minutes of memory lost up to hours or even days.
In combination with the slimes, the adventures would get lost endlessly in a maze that shifts everyday without any indicators or clues to regain them. Unable to progress, unable to even exit, they unknowingly became living DP cattle.
Which... Thinking about it sounds horrifying on paper. But they're season adventures, sooner or later they could get out on their own, not bothering to continue due to how annoying finding my core would be.
Is there anything else I could add? Maybe a boss? More floors? Traps? indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
