Chapter #7Shortly after... by: Unknown "Congratulations!" a voice shouted. "Con-gra-tu-la-tions! You've won the Interstellar Elation Lottery! Would you like to tell the world how you feel about such a fortuitous event? You should know it only happens once every two hundred Amber Eras."
Hook blinked twice, unable to understand what was happening. She looked in all directions, but saw absolutely nothing. She was in a huge black limbo. The only thing her sight managed to capture was THEIR silhouette.
"Awwww, are you shy?" that loud voice continued. "Come on, girl, life is meant to be lived with joy! Laughter cures diseases, extends life expectancy, and prevents you from being such an asocial and bitter idiot like that brat from the Genius Society. You can ask that pile of scrap called 'Erudition' if you don't believe me. You'd break the heart of Miss Akivili-that’s-not-actually-Akivili if she saw you with such a pained expression!"
Hook was quite scared until she heard that last part. "Akivili" was a nickname that Stelle had used in some kind of very complex video game she didn't quite understand.
“Do you know her?”
"Oh, of course! I adore that girl who can't hide her true identity! I decided that this lottery could only be won by one of her acquaintances, and in the end it was you. I'm glad, really. For a moment I thought the chosen one was going to be that lunatic who wants to become an Aeon..."
Hook's mind was still so clouded that she still didn't know if she was dreaming or not, but what she had understood from that conversation with the voice was very tempting. A super powerful friend of Stelle who occasionally decided to help someone? It sounded too good to be true. Since THEY were her friend, she didn't even consider THEY might have bad intentions.
"And what's the prize? What are you going to give me?!" Hook asked, suddenly very excited.
"Oh, it's very simple. For the next month you'll be able to be whoever you want."
Hook thought she was going to have a heart attack from excitement.
"Whoever I want?"
"Yes, whoever you want! You can become a ghost and control them! Don't worry, your body will continue to act as if you were still in it and your victi... ahem, receptacles will believe that everything you do with their bodies is something they actually decided to do themselves. So, who do you want to be? Since you’re cute, for this first time I'll teleport your ghost near your chosen person."
Hook should have questioned the morality of her actions a little more, but excitement took over her with an inexplicable force. It was as if being near that being made her more irrational. She thought about who she could possess.
On one hand there was that rich meanie. She had heard she would be spending a few weeks in the Luofu for the Wardance, so it would be an easy option. Besides being beautiful, she had a lot of money and authority.
Then she thought of the fox woman from before. She had heard she was the most powerful woman in all of Xianzhou. The mere idea of being able to have the strength of a superheroine drove her crazy, even though having animal ears would be weird.
Finally, she thought of the Astral Express crew. She didn't really feel like possessing one of its female members (of course, she didn't want to be a man), but they knew so many people that it might help her find an interesting body later. According to what Stelle had told her, they had met emanators, Galaxy Rangers, and women from the Genius Society. The possibilities were endless.
In the end, Hook chose to become...
