It came from Outer Space

It was a calm night with no clouds in the sky. Matthew was on garbage duty and only to put the bins out to the curb just before he went to bed. He groaned at himself as he put his slippers on and exited the house.

As he went out the back door there was a blinding flash of light in the sky followed by a loud crash. Matthew coughed as he was sprayed with dirt before looking at the new hole in the backyard which was now glowing with a purple hue.

Curiosity got the better of Matthew as he looked down into the hole and saw a meteorite perfectly cracked in half as a green sludge leaked from its center. The ooze vibrated in response to Matthew before lunging at him causing him to black out...
