Peridot soon warped into the house, only to be immediately greeted by her target.
“Hey Pearl.” Peridot said, after clearing her throat. She held the collar behind her back, hiding it from Pearl’s view.
Pearl looked up from her work. “Oh, hi Peridot. What are you doing here?”
“I finished my work early and have decided to come here to spend my ’recreational time’ here.” Peridot replied.
“Oh, then whats that behind your back, then?” Pearl asked.
Peridot had evidently not been discreet enough with the collar. “It’s uhh… a gift for Lapis.” Peridot explained meekly.
“Didn’t you two break up?” Pearl asked. Peridot was immediately reminded of the two’s separation. It hasn’t been pretty for her.
“Oh, don’t worry about that. Can I try it on?” Pearl asked. Peridot hesitated, before realizing that this was her moment. “Sure!” She replied.
Peridot, however, thought that she would put the collar on Pearl, only instead for Pearl to take it from her and put it on herself.
“Wait, I-!” But it was too late. Peridot had never accounted for what would happen if a gem had put the collar on themselves. This, however, was an opportunity to study such a scenario.
“Did I do something wrong?” Asked Pearl, confused.
“No, no, your fine.” Peridot affirmed. “You can keep the collar.” She added. “It looks good on you.”
“Oh really?” Pearl asked, blushing. “Well… you look good too, Peridot!”
“Oh, uhh… thank you Pearl.” She replied.
As Pearl went off to finish tidying up, Peridot thought to herself about Pearls change of heart towards her. Pearl and Peridot had been friends previously, but Pearl had never been so… flirty… with Peridot before. Was this an effect of the collar? It was supposed to make them unquestionably loyal to her, perhaps it was doing just that.
