Green Diamond's mind filled with names of Gems that she could take control of. Lapis, Pearl, Amethyst... They were all of interest to her, each with either special powers or... A special place in the new diamonds heart. Green Diamond blushed at the thought of a stacked Amethyst, a busty Lapis, or a towering Pearl. They would all do so nicely...
However, the former Peridot knew that she had to choose her first target carefully. While the strength of a Jasper or the powers of a Lapis were tantalizing to say the least, their capture would draw attention to her, something that she was not ready for. While weaker gems like Amethyst were easier to control and would cause less of a fuss, they could really only fill in a niche specialty within her court. Her first target would need to be able to give her a distinct edge over her opponents, while also being a discreet enough of a target as to not attract any attention to herself. She would need a Pearl.
Now she couldn't just be any Pearl. It had to be a Pearl with considerable experience in the managing of a Diamonds duties and inside knowledge of how they worked. And to Green Diamond, no Pearl suited that description better than Yellow Pearl!
There were a good few reasons as to why Yellow Pearl was the best bet. The other Pearls didn't fully measure up to her standards. Blue Pearl was more of an artist than an "intergalactic second in command", Pink Pearl was far too naïve, and Pearl herself was too much of a "free thinker," which could have some dire consequences in the future. Yellow Pearl, however, was a seasoned organizer, had worked alongside the most logical and ruthless Diamond and herself had a steely resolve. And, while Green Diamond would never admit it out loud to anyone but herself, Yellow Pearl was also extremely seductive, and had often been seen attempting to seduce other gems before, including Peridot herself once even!
"Yes... Yellow Pearl will do nicely!" Green Diamond proclaimed. She set out to find her, the first of many additions to her court.
