The room is modern, with a glass-topped desk separating the interviewer and interviewee. On one side sits Mrs. Harper, a middle-aged woman in a crisp shirt, her graying hair slicked back. Her demeanor radiates a mix of authority and skepticism.
"Hello Ryan" Mrs. Harper says, extending her hand out.
" Hello ma'am, its nice to meet you" says Ryan, shaking it.
Mrs. Harper glances at his resume for a moment, then looks up
"So, Ryan. You're here for the software development internship. What makes you think you're ready for such a demanding role? I mean, this is a competitive field. And it's not... the most typical choice for someone like you."
"I've been passionate about technology for as long as I can remember. I started coding in high school, and during my computer science program, I interned with a startup where I worked on a real-time data visualization project. That experience taught me a lot about problem-solving and teamwork. I’m confident I can bring value to your team." Ryan said, politely.
leaning back and smirking slightly, Mrs. Harper says;
"Impressive. But, you know, tech isn’t all about passion. It's about results, long hours, and keeping up with people who have been doing this for decades. Don't take this the wrong way, but do you think you’d be comfortable in an environment like this? It's... intense."
"I understand that it’s a high-pressure field, and I’m prepared for that. My internship taught me how to work under tight deadlines, and I’ve also been juggling part-time work at a video game store with my studies, so I’m used to managing stress effectively."
"Hmm. And do you think you’ll be able to handle the, uh, culture here?" asks Mrs. Harper, sounding dismissive. "Our team is mostly... experienced professionals. Not sure how a young man like you might fit in."
keeping his voice steady but firm "I believe diverse perspectives strengthen a team. As someone who’s worked in female-dominated environments before, I know how to collaborate effectively. I’m here to learn, contribute, and grow, just like anyone else." Ryan Says
Mrs. Harper chuckles, shaking her head slightly.
"Alright, fair enough. Well, I suppose we’ll see how serious you really are. If you do get the internship, you’ll have to prove you can keep up with the rest of the team. No special treatment here."
Ryan smiles politely
"That’s exactly what I’m looking for—a chance to prove myself."
Mrs. Harper pauses for a moment, rubbing her chin, her thoughts shifting to something more calculating
"Actually, you know what? You’re hired. Consider it a trial run. Our office could use a bit of a fresh face, if you know what I mean. A little, uh, balance in the atmosphere never hurts. Just make sure you dress... appropriately for a professional environment. What you got going on now? i like that. Keep doing that" She said, glancing up and down at Ryan
Ryan's smile tightens, though he's slightly hurt
"Thank you for the opportunity. I’ll be sure to give my best."
Mrs. Harper grins, standing to shake his hand
"That's what i like to hear. Looking forward to seeing what you bring to the table. Ill have Robbie send you and email with more details"
Ryan stands, extending his hand confidently
"Thank you for your time, Mrs. Harper. I’ll see you soon."
he stands up, clutching his purse, and walks away, his heels clicking. He glances at a mirror in the hall, and notices Mrs. Harper staring at his butt as he walks away.
"Guess I'm gonna have to get used to that"
