He noticed some strange giant black flying pokémon. He went to pull on his pokédex to see what they were, but then they started landing. That's when he saw who they were chasing.
There was a girl with dark hair on the floor wearing what looked like a school uniform. She looked at the flying types in fear, her only defence being a green feline pokémon.
Without thinking about it, he ran towards her.
"Come on, Pikachu!" He stopped and noticed his starter wasn't following. "Pikachu, please! That girl needs our help! I don't care if you hate me, but can't you help me save her?"
That seamed to Pikachu. A second later, he began running towars the flying pokémon and sent a thunder bolt towards it.
Ash wasn't sure if it was hurt or surprised, but it flew away.
"Hey, are you alright?" He reached a hand towards her.
"Yea, th-thank you." She took it and got up.
The two introduced each other, Ash explained that he was on his first day on his journey to be a Pokémon Master. The girl introduced herself as Liko and her partner as Sprigatito, explaining that she was staying at Indigo Academy on Route 22 when she was attacked.
"I hope you don't mind me saying but, you don't sound like your from around here."
She blushed a little. "I'm not. I actually come from Paldea."
"Oh, that's cool." He hadn't a clue what Paldea was. Not being very good in school, he was surprisingly unfamiliar with any region outside Kanto and assumed it was a far off town.
"Hey, would you mind if I played something for you, maybe help you relax?" He didn't really wait for an answer and stared playing the flute.
After about ten seconds, he recalled Joy and Jenny's reaction and stopped.
"Hey, are you alright? How do you feel?" He asked, a little worried.
She smiled gently. "I feel calmer, thank you. Can I hear more?"
He relaxed and started playing again, I guess it wasn't the flute after all. He thought to himself.
What he didn't realise was that Liko was being affected, she was simply nervous about confessing.
