Chapter #2

Tempest Tides

    by: Nickolosaurus Author IconMail Icon
The sky was a tumultuous canvas of darkening clouds as the DPW team received the urgent alert. A fierce storm had struck the coastal region, and reports were coming in of marine dinosaurs, including a Mosasaurus, being spotted dangerously close to the shore. The risk of these colossal creatures beaching themselves or encountering civilians was high.

As a DPW ranger, you were part of the emergency response team dispatched to the scene. The roaring wind and churning waves made the mission daunting, yet the urgency was palpable. The safety of both the dinosaurs and any nearby residents depended on your team's swift action.

Upon arrival, the team assessed the situation. The Mosasaurus was visibly disoriented, struggling against the storm's fury. The team needed to act fast.

You were faced with a critical decision:

Option A: Deploy specialized sonar buoys to create a sound barrier, guiding the Mosasaurus back into deeper waters where it would be safe.

Option B: Attempt a close approach using the team's boats to directly steer the Mosasaurus away from the shore using light and sound distractions.
The decision you make could mean the difference between a successful rescue and a disaster. With time running out and the storm intensifying, your choice would set the course of the mission.

Option C: Coordinate with the Coast Guard to implement an evacuation of the area while setting up floodlights along the shore to discourage the Mosasaurus from approaching further. This option focuses on human safety first, while also attempting a non-invasive method to guide the dinosaur away.

Option D: Use a combination of drones and small, maneuverable watercraft to create a diversion, leading the Mosasaurus towards a specially prepared cove where it can take shelter until the storm passes. This choice involves a more complex, coordinated effort that balances the safety of the creature with the protection of the community.
