Chapter #2

Noah

    by: D Author IconMail Icon
*Skreeeeongk!* The roar of the 400 foot giant reptile could be heard through the whole house, followed by the pounding, rhythmic foot falls thuds that followed
"Honey, turn down the TV" an annoyed female voice called from the kitchen.
Noah ignored it. Instead he continued stomping his little feet in unison with the gigantic beast, knocking over the block and lego buildings with the immensity of his 60 lb. body. All the figurines laid out before him cried out in fear of their youthful destroyer. Noah imagined them pointing to the sky in cheesy dubbed accents as his sole came crashing down to earth. He giggled and smirked at their pleas for mercy. He was awash in his fantasy world. But then the sound cut out...
Snapped out of his fantasy, Noah turned around.
Him mom was standing by the couch, remote in hand, looking at him sternly.
"I said turn down the TV, young man" She said with an impatient air.
"Sorry mom, I didn't hear you" he lied.
"Mmmmm" She looked doubtful. "Well finish up your little game. It's almost dinner." She adjusted the volume of the TV to a normal level and handed the remote to Noah. She didn't understand her son's obsession for these old monster movies he would pull up on Youtube. But, he was a boy after all. Little boys loved to play and play rough. A little imaginary destruction never hurt anyone. She returned to the kitchen. Noah began to pick up the remnants of his toy city and put them back into his toy box. As he was doing so, an ad popped up on the TV screen.
'uggg, I hate ads' Noah thought, annoyed. But something about this one caught his eye, and his ears.
"want to be BIGGER?" an ultra masculine voice questioned, while the image on the screen looked like one of those hypno wheels you would see on a cartoon. It twirled and swirled in all sorts of strange colors. It held his attention.
"want to be BIGGER?" the voice repeated, oddly.
'what is this for?' he thought to himself.
Noah went to click the 'skip ad' button, but found that instead it was replaced on the screen by two different icons. a box labeled "yes" and a box labeled "no, I want to stay small".
What kind of ad was this? Noah's young mind couldn't make sense of it. But there was one thing that he was sure of, and that's that he didn't want to 'stay small'. He decided to answer truthfully and clicked the box labeled 'yes'.
The screen flashed bright. Brighter than anything he had ever seen. Had he been older he may have likened it to the flash of welding metal. But he had never seen such a thing at his age.
The flash subsided and Noah rubbed his eyes, trying to make the spots go away.
When the boy opened them up again everything was as it had been before. The giant reptile was fumbling over some power lines on his TV screen.
"Weird commercial" Noah commented to himself, quickly forgot the experience as children do, then finished picking up his playthings.
