Chapter #4

A slight tug

    by: Hobbitking Author IconMail Icon
Kylie watched Jessica go into the magic shop for hair ties of all things, what was weirder is how quickly she went in and came out as if she knew what she was buying, even though they had never seen the store before, at least Kylie hadn't. When they stepped out of the magic store, Jessica even looked confused as to where she was for a moment.

Now that they were heading back to the car, Kylie couldn't help but fixate on Jessica's ponytail, and specifically the hair tie. Something was odd about it and she saw a small faint line in the middle of it. Without thinking Kylie reached to grab Jessica's hair as it bobbed up and down with each step and gave it a slight tug, causing the hair tie to split into too, separating Jessica's hair where the tie was.

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" Kylie screamed, as she held the bulk of her friend's hair in her hand. She almost dropped it on the ground due to the shock.

Jessica paused and turned around to see what Kylie was on about when she noticed her pony tail in Kylie's hands. "You cut my hair?!" Jessica yelled at Kylie with a look of anger and betrayal as she reached up to grab where the tie had been, only to find it still in and impossible to pull off.

"No, I would never do that!" Kylie swore. "Something looked odd and I gave it a slight tug and it just came off effortlessly."

Jessica was about to say some harsh words when she paused for a moment and looked at the packet she had bought and took in the fact she couldn't pull the remaining tie out of her hair. "No it can't be..." Jessica looked at the ties.

Kylie followed Jessica's gaze as they calmed down. "Well they did come from a magic shop... you don't suppose..." her voice trailed off not finishing the sentence as both women looked at each other and gave the same look.

They then went into a side alley, hoping they didn't cause too much attention and decided to see if their shared theory was correct.
