Melona stared idly into her soup, swirling the dark, rich broth. Truth be told, she wasn't all that hungry. It wasn't the soup's fault, or the cook's fault, or anyone's fault, really. It was just hard to work up an appetite when she knew that, in a few weeks, she'd be failing most of her classes. Well, probably all of them, but Melona liked to be optimistic.
She grabbed the glass of plain water she had gotten for herself and took a sip. Maybe she could get work as a cook here. Wait, no, most of the top chefs needed experience with brewing potions as well. Maybe a sous chef. Or, probably a line cook. No, probably a dishwasher. Scratch that. She could get a job as the grime on the counter that gets cleaned up and thrown away at the end of the day. Yeah, that was more like it.
