Melona's breath caught in her chest, but she let it out in a sigh of relief. Of course she had written the essay. It was just a quick two-pager about the most recent Lich War, and it mostly consisted of dates and locations of battles. A single all-nighter in the library was enough for her to handle it. She reached into her bag and pulled out the paper, laying it on her desk. Luminata strolled among the desks, taking paper after paper from the students' trembling hands. Melona felt--"confident" was the wrong word. Less nervous, maybe. History was her only particularly strong subject at the Academy, and her paper was, all in all, at least acceptable.
Luminata strolled by Melona's desk; Melona held up her essay, looking at the professor. Luminata grabbed with a sternly-approving nod before moving on.
That's right, Melona told herself. The paper's handed in, and her grade in the class was safe. Nothing to worry about.
No, that couldn't be true. There was always something to worry about. But what?
