There were twelve dozen students lined up to present their moves. In the front stands, the current cheerleading team was sitting with the captain holding a clipboard. There were also several uninvited guests observing the tryouts, including a group of catcalling young men, a group of people taking a video of the event, perhaps hoping for some botched stunt and a small number of parents determined to encourage their children.
Mary was thankful she wasn’t one of the hopefuls trying to hide from their parents but nervous when she looked at the other girls trying out; many were taller, better developed, or more skilled.
“You got this!” Her older sister Nicole’s words of encouragement echoed in the teen’s head.
There was a roar of laughter that ripped Mary from her thoughts. A redhead was running from the field with cotton balls falling out of her clothes. “Next!” A shrill voice called. With one last deep breath, the freshman girl walked forward, “Name?” The head cheerleader called.
“Mary Simons.” The head cheerleader, Lisa, looked at the hopeful recruit momentarily before frowning, “Well?”
“Oh,” Mary blushed, “Can I start?”
The head cheerleader groaned, “Freshmen!”
“You’re losing them!” Mary screamed in her head. “Just remember what Nicole taught you.” The teenager started performing some basic gymnastics and jumps, and several of the cheerleaders started to nod. When the head cheerleader smiled, Mary knew she had a chance. “Come on, girl, big finish!” The hopeful recruit jumped as high as she could and landed a triple flip before landing on her feet. Mary held up her arms, ready for applause, but laughter erupted. The teenager looked into the audience and saw one of the wolf-calling boys holding up a familiar skirt. Mary looked down and saw her white cotton panties for the world to view!
The freshman screamed and ran as fast as her legs could carry her. Mary didn’t think she just ran home ignoring any onlookers; she just wanted this disaster to be over!
