He decided that maybe none of them were quite the targets he was looking for. He then saw a woman and what he assumed was her adult son come into the deli. The son was likely just slightly younger than him, maybe nineteen or twenty, and the woman looked to be about forty. She was dressed well, and he guessed she was a manager in an office setting, judging by her grey skirt suit, tan pantyhose, and white heels. Her son was dressed in the standard hoodie and jeans.
"So, what are you getting?" He asked his mom.
"I'm thinking the pastrami on rye. You?"
"Roast beef on wheat, I think." He said.
He must take after her, Nick realized. He had a lean build, and she had a lean, almost thin build as well. He avoided staring, but listened in as they talked. Apparently, he was going to a trade school to be a welder and she wanted him to go to college. He tried to convince her that he wasn't built for that.
"I'm not cut out for an office!" He said. "I'm just not!"
"It's the better job!" She tried to convince him.
"Maybe for you!" He said. "Look, I'd not survive a week in an office. And, honestly mom, you'd not last a week doing what I do!"
At that, Nick smiled. He found his subjects. He thought about the swap and made it so they were aware of the swap, but no one else but Nick was.
He then looked around the deli for other subjects as the mom and son freaked out.
